On January 26, 2024, GCBC held its first Legislative Launch Luncheon in place of its regular monthly membership meeting. It was the first annual event designed to provide an opportunity for members of the legislature to hear directly from the regional partners and learn more about their legislative goals.
Over 170 GCBC members, business leaders and legislators attended the luncheon. GCBC believes having business leaders informed and engaged on regional stakeholders’ goals will lead to more success for the region and more impact in Jackson during the legislative session.
The economic future of our region is too important not to work collaboratively with other regional organizations dedicated to growing our economy and improving the quality on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Jamie Miller, President & CEO of GCBC Tweet
The regional partners include: Coastal Mississippi Tourism, Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport, Gulf Regional Planning Commission, Hancock Port & Harbor Commission, Harrison County Development Commission, Jackson County Economic Development Foundation, Mississippi Enterprise for Technology, Port of Gulfport, Port of Pascagoula, and Southern Mississippi Planning & Development District.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was announced that these regional stakeholders had all signed Strategic Regional Alignment Agreements with GCBC. The agreements are a written commitment to working together on important economic and community development issues facing our region. The agreements also provide a framework for collaborating on legislative priorities.
GCBC then held a press conference to share the news of this incremental step toward regional alignment. Learn more about GCBC membership and what is has to offer the Mississippi Gulf Coast region.
“The Mississippi Gulf Coast has a diverse economy made up of many sectors, including aerospace, shipbuilding, financial services, gaming, tourism and military,” Miller said. “We will all have greater success by working together.”
